Bio

Kieran Goodwin is the Goalkeepers Coach for the UPEI Panthers soccer program and has been part of the team for five years, working with both the men’s and women’s squads during this period. He’s passionate about helping players grow and is dedicated to supporting UPEI in achieving their goals on and off the field.

A former goalkeeper himself, Kieran played three seasons with St. Francis Xavier University, graduating in 2011. During his time at St. FX, the X-Men were ranked number 1 in Canada by U-Sport for the first time in university history. One of his proudest moments as a player came in 2007 when he backstopped the first-ever youth team from PEI to medal at Nationals, earning bronze at the U18 Championships in Fredericton, New Brunswick with a 2-1 shootout win over Ontario.

Kieran has also spent the past five years coaching keepers with PEIFC, working alongside Panthers coaches Janos Barna and Lauren Clark. Through this experience, he’s had the chance to help develop some of the Island’s top talent while sharing his love for the game. Alongside Barna and Clark, Kieran won a historic silver medal at the 2022 U15 National Championships, which was the highest placing ever by a PEI youth team.

Kieran also enjoys coaching with Special Olympics of PEI in the summer time with their soccer program. Most recently, they won gold at the Special Olympics Nova Scotia Summer Games in 2024. As well, Kieran enjoys coaching the Special Olympics Floor Hockey program during the winter months.

Whether it’s training sessions or match day, Kieran brings energy, experience, and a team-first mindset to everything he does. He’s proud to be part of the UPEI program and looks forward to continuing to help the Panthers make their mark in Atlantic University Sport.
