League Parity… Team Meal!
Coach Kendrick talks about the weekend that was in the AUS, and a rare Saturday practice.
As you all know, we were off this weekend. However, our parity filled league sure went on without us! MUN swept X on the Rock, SMU took two from CBU in Halifax, and UNB edged the Tigers in the Dalplex! A total of seven teams in the AUS are separated by a scant 14 points. If you have not yet gotten out to see a live game in our league, you need to! Every team works very hard, they are all well coached, and most every game has more plot twists and turns than an old fashioned "soap opera"! We have two huge tilts coming up at home in the Panther Den this weekend. Friday night we take on the very talented Axemen, who currently sit just four points in front of us, and Saturday the Huskies come calling. Both of these games tip-off at 8:00pm, and a packed house would sure benefit us!
Without any games this weekend, we had a rare Saturday afternoon practice. I think our players were much more excited for what came afterwards! My wife, Mary, prepares a few team meals every year, usually at special times like Christmas and Easter. Our guys really enjoy them, as it is a nice break from their usual fare, to say the least. Saturday, my wife went above and beyond the call of duty! She prepared huge trays of lasagna, big pots of chili, and several sweets for deserts! Needless to say, I am very happy that everyone had Sunday off!
