Eireann Rigby
A fierce competitor with the heart of a winner, Eireann Rigby was pivotal to the success of UPEI Women’s Basketball in the mid-nineties. Rigby joined the Panthers in 1993 and left her mark through to 1998, when she guided UPEI to an Atlantic University Sport (AUS) championship. In five seasons with the club, Rigby averaged 14.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game, while earning three consecutive AUS First Team All-Star selections (1995–98). She also holds the UPEI record for “most career field goals made” with 498, is third overall in total points with 1,231, and is ninth in steals with 130. Numbers aside, Rigby was feared on the court by the competition—she defended anyone and everyone regardless of their size or speed. Eireann Rigby backed down to no one and was the engine that drove UPEI to success.
