Sarah Sear named AUFH MVP; Karleigh McEwen takes home Outstanding Player Award

Sarah Sear – Forward - Most Valuable Player

Sarah is a 5th year forward from Charlottetown who has led UPEI offensively all year and has been a captain and a true leader on and off the field. Her speed, vision and stick handling skills make her a tough forward to defend. She has the strong ability to find the back of the net and has been an offensive threat for the team. She was top score in the league in scoring with 16 goals in 9 games. Sarah was League All-Star for 4 of her 5 years. At the Championships in Halifax Sarah added another 4 goals.

Karleigh McEwen – Midfield - Outstanding Player Award

Karleigh is in her 4th year with the UPEI field hockey team. She is a very fit and committed athlete that plays the center midfield position and is involved in both offensive and defensive corners. Karleigh has the ability to see the field and distribute the ball. Karleigh has been a strong volunteer within the field hockey community. She has previously coached a high school team, volunteers with field hockey clinics throughout the year and also coached the U18 provincial team that attended Nationals this summer. Karleigh also volunteers at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on a weekly basis. Karleigh is very dedicated to school, work, field hockey and her volunteering efforts.
